Massett wanted to pay Twain a visit, and Twain was amenable to receive him, but wanted to be sure he was not “overbooked”. Autograph letter signed, on his stationery, no date (but prior to 1898 when Massett died), to Massett. “Give me two or three days notice because we have to arrange dates with circumspection – else we get more guests in the house than said house will accommodate.” He has signed “S.L. Clemens.”
