Ellen Wilson was President Woodrow Wilson’s youngest daughter, and the namesake of her mother, Ellen Axson Wilson. Just months before his death in February 1924, Wilson presented Ellen with a large, 11 by 14 inch Harris & Ewing photograph of himself, which he signed and dated 1923.
She retained that photograph throughout her life. Sometime shortly prior to her death, Ellen gave some of her treasured family mementos, including this photograph and other items signed by her father, to a very close friend.
We recently obtained them directly from that friend’s family. This photograph is offered here for the first time.
