President William McKinley, January 18, 1901; McKinley’s vice president and successor, Theodore Roosevelt, dated as president, December 30, 1901; Secretary of State John Hay, April 9, 1901; Secretary of the Treasury, Lyman Gage; Secretary of War Elihu Root, March 12, 1901; Attorney General John Griggs, March 26, 1901; Postmaster General C. Emory Smith, March 22, 1901; Secretary of the Navy John Long, March 5, 1901; Secretary of the Interior E.A. Hitchcock, March 22, 1901; and Secretary of Agriculture James Wilson, March 22, 1901. This constitutes the president, vice present, and entire cabinet.
There are also approximately 77 U.S. senators who have signed the album (with just 13l missing). A very uncommon album, being our first with the autographs of McKinley and his entire senior administration, and all the better for having been gathered around the time of the Inauguration and obtained by the Sergeant at Arms of the Senate.
