SOLD Mother Teresa Explains Why She Dedicated Her Life to the Virgin Mary

“Let us ask Him to deepen our love...”.

In 1995, author Lone Jensen’s new book, Gifts of Grace, had recently been published. Its thesis was, “There has been a resurrection of love in our society, a return to the feminine strengths of nurturing, caring, and compassion. Who better than the Virgin Mary to lead us on this journey back to God?” Jensen sent a copy of the book to Mother Teresa, whose reverence for Mary was widely known and appreciated. This is the future saint’s reply.

Typed Letter Signed on the verso of one of her imprinted note sheets, Mother House, Calcutta, June 28, 1995, to Jensen. “Thank you for sending me a copy of your new book, Gifts of Grace. God love you for your beautiful intention of making the motherly love and care of Our Lady better known and more dearly treasured by all. Jesus has given His Mother Mary to us at the foot of the Cross to be our Mother, and wants us to love her with a most tender and childlike love. Let us ask Him to deepen our love for Mary, so that we may love her as He did, be a cause of joy to her as He was, keep close to her as He kept, and share with her everything, even the Cross, as He did. Let us pray.” She has signed, “M. Teresa MC,” the latter two letters being her abbreviation for Missionaries of Charity.
