Long List of 100 Slaves Purchased Over 20 Years, Probably For a Large Plantation.

Slavery List. A 2 page 8vo list of some 100 slaves purchased from 1829 to 1849, for what was obviously quite a large plantation, listing their names, from whom purchased and for how much, and in some cases their ages.

One of the slaves, Rose, was 9 years old, while a number were teenagers, one was listed as being 27 years old, and one is named only as “old Nancy.” Most of the slaves were purchased for about $400-600, though the 27 year old Isaac cost an even $1,000. This list was apparently made in 1859 as a record for a bond transaction. A fascinating and unusually detailed list.
