2025 marks Nathan’s 20th year with the historical documents firm founded by his parents
The Raab Collection celebrates a milestone this year, as its president, Nathan Raab, marks his 20th year with the company. During that time, he has helped grow the firm founded by Steven and Susan Raab in 1989 into an international business handling many of the most notable historical documents to reach the market.
Nathan is also the author of the bestselling book, The Hunt for History: On the Trail of the World’s Lost Treasures–from the Letters of Lincoln, Churchill and Einstein to the Secret Recordings Onboard JFK’s Air Force One (Scribner, 2020), which chronicles both his apprenticeship with his father and their fascinating historical discoveries.
During his tenure at Raab, Nathan has advised the descendants and heirs of famous historical figures (such as Dwight Eisenhower, Thomas Jefferson, and Ronald Reagan), as well as lifelong collectors and their families, as they sell their treasures. He has helped important documents find homes, permanent and temporary, with private collectors and in major institutions, including the Library of Congress, the National Constitution Center, the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum & Library, the Huntington Library, and the Science History Institute.
Nathan’s writing on historical topics has appeared in the New York Times, Forbes, and the Philadelphia Inquirer, and his expertise has been shared in interviews with most major media outlets, including the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Times of London, NPR, BBC, CNN, CBS News, and Fox News, among others.
A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Nathan began his career writing with the Associated Press in the Rome bureau, after which he worked for several members of Congress on policy and communications issues. He also served a decade on the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania.
