A 2 page folio Document Signed, Sept. 8, 1778, being a muster roll of Capt. Jonathan Brown’s company, listing Brown and four other commissioned officers, 6 sergeants, 2 bombadiers, a drummer, 4 corporals and 13 gunners.
This muster roll was sworn to before Parsons who has signed “8th Sepr. 1778, Saml. H. Parsons, B.G.” Parsons joined the Continental Army in 1776, figured prominently in the plan to capture Ticonderoga, fought bravely at Long Island, and in 1779 succeeded Israel Putnam as commander of the Connecticut Division. He was promoted to major general and received the Thanks of Congress. Good; the document has been trimmed with some loss of text, and has some fold repairs and light staining.
