From “the early days of high adventure in the air, when men first put wings on guns”.

1st Lt. Charles R. D’Olive was an American Ace in World War I. A member of the 93rd Pursuit Squadron, AEF, he shot down 5 German aircraft. In 1960, artist J.D. Carrick depicted his exploit in a painting.

Print Signed. An 11 by 14 inch print of this painting, signed and inscribed by D’Olive to noted militaria collector Joseph Martin, February 10, 1966. “This is the artist’s idea of my 5th official victory, way back in the early days of high adventure in the air, when men first put wings on guns. My plane is the French Spad XIII, the German’s is the Fokker DVII.” We obtained this from Mr. Martin directly and it has never before been offered for sale.
