General Robert E. Lee to President Jefferson Davis
An acquisition and unveiling by Raab
In September 1863, General Robert E. Lee wrote an important report to President Jefferson Davis, detailing General JEB Stuart’s brave defense against Meade’s post-Gettysburg incursion into Virginia. This was the first battle on southern soil between the Army of Northern Virginia and the Army of the Potomac after the Battle of Gettysburg. For decades, this historical treasure has been in a private collection. The Raab Collection has now acquired it, and for one week, it will be on display in our offices.
