The Kaiser’s aggressive nationalism and inept diplomacy were major causes of World War I, at the end of which he was forced to flee to the Netherlands. He settled in the town of Doorn.
Signed Photograph. A 5 by 7 inch photograph of him, signed and inscribed in his typical purple pencil “Doorn 1936,” sent to an American recipient. The cover letter signed by his secretary is still present, as is the original envelope with its stamps and cancellations.
