Raab Announces the Acquisition of a Rare Abraham Lincoln Signed Mathew Brady CDV

The CDV is a unique and moving Lincoln family memento of the 16th president.

PHILADELPHIA, PA – February 11, 2017 – The Raab Collection, the nation’s leading dealer in important historical documents, announced today that it has acquired and will be offering for sale a rare Mathew Brady carte-de-visit photograph signed by Abraham Lincoln. This is one of only a handful of signed Brady images to reach the market in decades.  It descended in the family of the direct descendants of Abraham Lincoln himself.  More importantly, none, in the public sale records or otherwise, have as provenance the Lincoln family itself, making this not merely a rarity but likely unique.  You can read more about it here.

The Raab Collection has worked with the families of famous Americans in the sale and preservation of their family treasures, among them Thomas Jefferson, Ulysses S. Grant, F. Scott Fitzgerald, William H. Crawford, Gerald Ford, William Henry Harrison, and Ronald Reagan, among many others. This piece was brought to the market by the heir of Margaret Fristoe Beckwith, wife and heir of Robert Todd Lincoln Beckwith. Beckwith was the great-grandson of President Lincoln, and the last of Lincoln’s direct descendants.
