Magnificent John F. Kennedy Signed Photograph as President, Inscribed to NATO Supreme Commander, General Lauris Norstad

Gen. Lauris Norstad served with distinction as an Air Force officer during World War II. Following the formation of NATO, he took on a variety of roles as an American representative within that organization. In 1956 he was appointed Supreme Allied Commander Europe, a position he held until 1963. His greatest test during his tenure as Supreme Commander was the Berlin Crisis of 1961, when the Soviets cut off East Berlin (and in effect everyone in the entire Soviet bloc who could make it to East Berlin) from the West by building the famous wall that sealed it off from West Berlin. Norstad earned President Kennedy’s respect for the way he handled that situation, wrote the New York Times.

An 8 by 10 photographic image of President Kennedy, circa 1963, matted to a large 9 1/2 by 13 1/2 inch presentation, Inscribed “For General Lauris Norstad, with esteem and every good wish – to a distinguished American soldier, John F. Kennedy.” This is as nice a signed portrait photograph of Kennedy as president that we have had. It is from the Estate of General and Mrs. Lauris Norstad.
