A Document Signed, Albany, September 29, 1776, the text of which is in the hand of Varick. “I do hereby acknowledge to have received of Capt. Richard D. Varick the sum of five thousand dollars being so much money rec'd by him for my use in my Warrant dated the Eleventh instant & the further sum of ten thousand dollars being so much money rec'd as af'd [aforesaid] on the 28th Instant.”

The sum of 15,000 pounds recited in this text is quite a bit larger than the 6,000 pounds indicated at the lower left hand side of the document, perhaps indicating that the amount anticipated for receipt was the larger figure and the sum actually received was the lower figure.
