Scottish bacteriologist and Nobel laureate who discovered penicillin, perhaps the most important single discovery in pharmaceutical history. A 6 by 8 inch image of Fleming mounted to 10 by 13 inches, dated November 16, 1953, showing him seated at a table in his lab with a microscope next to him.
The photograph is inscribed “To my friend Professor Robert Debré”. Dr. Debré was a noted French physician who gave his name to the most important pediatric hospital in Paris.
